Just one of those days...

It's just been one of those days... (one of those weeks, really.)

You know, one of those days when you can actually understand why some species eat their young.

One screaming child woke up another screaming child, woke up another screaming child.

Camden peed in his freshly changed sheets, and didn't tell me, and I only just realized it from the nauseating smell radiating from him as we're sitting at the breakfast table.

So into the tub, but they all want a bath…Gwyneth is ready to get out and I walk into the bathroom after getting her dressed to find that Camden has now pooped in the tub, all over the freshly bleached toys and his little brother. I whisk Jude out and he pees all over my freshly mopped floor while I’m taking care of the mess in the tub. I get Camden in fresh clothes and he poops, (yet again!) all over those, too! And now needs another bath... and on and on…

Add this to the fact that everyone needs to “go potty” every 5 minutes and only ever actually goes 10% of the time, but expects a treat every time, (and then proceeds to go in their pants anyway) plus the fact that the two I’m not holding are screaming at the top of their lungs, at all times, and you get yourself one happy lil’ household.

And the time? Not even 9 am.

Oh well. Things are looking up. Gwyneth has only had 1 “accident” and they’ve been happily playing long enough for me to type this. Until just now, of course…

Camden and Jude have the slinky strung half way through the house in a screaming tug-o-war. And they have 2 of them!

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Yikes, sorry about your day...it will be worth it some day, and they will get easier until the teenage years from what I hear. Wish I could help you...

I have sooooooo been there!

Like last Wednesday when I ran around frantically trying to make my house look perfect because small group was here only running around frantically is really hard when you have an 18-month-old wrapped around your legs screamng "Up Up Up" and you keep knocking him over with your much too large butt, whick reminds you that you haven't had a bite to eat since lunch...yesterday! Then you grab the first thing you can find which happens to be something along the lines of a soda or chocolate milk(hince the oversized butt) but since you tripped over your baby AGAIN you knocked it on the floor. Not just any floor but the one that you just spent an hour and a half on your hands and knees scrubbing. Oh and let's not mention the front and inside of the cabinet that it ran down.
Now all of this wouldn't seem so bad if you hadn't just realized that your three-year-old said he was going to go potty about a half an hour ago and you haven't seen him since. So you open the bathroom door to find him with the end of the toothpaste tube stuck in his mouth while standing on his stool in front of the mirror in what used to be your bathroom but is now your indoor swimming pool as he plugged the sink with toilet paper and left the faucet on. So you carry on and try not to feed him the sogging mushy mess of toilet paper and you step back to take it to the trash and crush the fingers of your 18-month-old who is lying outside the bathroom door screaming and reaching under it trying to get in and this induces even more incessant squalling so you throw your hands in the air and say,"I've had it!" and you take them outside to play thinking you can keep them clean. Then... well you saw my blog pictures of them. So after bath they take an oh so glorious nap and you actually begin to catch up.
Now it's evening and and they are "eating" dinner which usually means throwng half of it on the floor but that's okay because you only have under the table to vacuum since you are a very cool and collected mother and got the rest of the house done already. So you happily clean your children and then vacuum under the table and take a big sigh of relief as your first guests arrive and you walk into the living room to greet them and much to your horror your baby has emptied half the contents of your wood stove all over the living room. So into the tub again and out comes the vacuum.
Then you have small group and after everybody leaves you laugh evilly to yourself because...next week it's at your sister's house.

Yes, I have been there and I am so so so very sorry.

Thanks for making me laugh, Heids! That's quite the accomplishment on a day like today.

what do you guys teach your kids?? Just kidding... I have to say these stories sound pretty normal, not for me (most the time), but for most moms... so sorry Terah, it sounds CRAZY!

Hmmmmmmm....

Sounds like we need to do small group at Shelby's....

I guess since it can't snow that there are new battles forming. Seems no matter what day we do small group, it becomes the hardest day of the week. I think we have a good study tonight, so I hope everyone makes it! Hang in there everyone!

Hey, Terah, I second that motion!

Oh, I forgot to remind you, I will bring no-bakes and then everything will be right in the world once again.

So like Lyle said, hang in there, I and my cookies will be there in 7.5 long, grueling, torturous, stark-raving-mad hours!

I was reminded of a phrase that I love earlier while I was writing.

"I smile bcause you are my sister; I laugh because there is nothing you can do about it!"

ouch! if that's a bad day, then I guess I've never had one = 0

mayb we should have small group at chad and shelby's...more people would show up then = )

The Chad Beck's said...

whatever... comments like that sure will make a person want to show up more...
-ALSO-
we have had a study group here before, why do you think it's not hear anymore?? I've lived and learned, and I know at this point in my life having a study here is not for me, maybe it's not for other people as well??? It's not an easy thing so hang in there Terah! We love having it there, (when we can make it):) Hope you guys are having a good study tonight, I'd better get back to packin!

Terah said...

Nope. I love having small group here. We missed you guys!

Just bloggin' 'cause this seems to be a popular blog to be a part of.

You're a dork Lance.

We had a great study...put on my blog.

It is always disappointing when someone can't make it to small group, even Lance. :) It's a lot of work to prepare for and the selfish side of us wants to see "numbers" just like in church (wrong). But all we need is two or more to meet with God, and it went very well. We missed Chad and Shelby, but NO hard feelings. Hope we see you guys soon!
